im trying to isnstall firmware but my computer isnt recognizing a bin file tried downloading it but saying computer cant do it anybody any ideas pls
If you are sure that it is Starview 2 The Box then this is the Firmware you are looking for okay, just download it to your Desktop, you will need to Unzip so use the link for Winrar to do so if you need it, you will have to install onto your PC okay. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Box Firmware and Loader. (Says The Box top Left hand side front of box) so make sure that it is that model SV. http://www.4shared.com/file/80407617/7ab3b3f/The_Box_457__Loader.html http://www.4shared.com/file/28733441/7c4273a7/wrar35.html
thanks im so sorry im not to good at computers ive downloaded it its as books on my desktop, but still cant get it to download
im getting there slowly but surely its downloading now but then its saying flash update fail can anyone help
When you say that it is on your decsktop "like books" that is because it is Zipped, you need to unzip (extract) with Winrar, I have to presume that you have done this because you said that it is downloading and then "Flash Failed". This is most likely because you are using Win Vista and/or a USB adaptor, lots of people have this problem with that combination. You need to get the COMM port correctly assigned and you do need Drivers installed for the USB adaptor so click on the link and have a careful read of the guide >>> http://www.freewebs.com/starview-update/ Now it is for the SV1 but it is entirely the exact same procedure, you BIN file is 457.bin that is the only difference okay so stick with the 457 or you will end up bricking your box!!! - Now if you cannot get the download done after following the guide, then I suggest that you get TO or Loan of an old laptop or a standalone PC with the correct 9 Pin port (it is not available on newer/modern models) with OP system XP and you will have no problem doing the flash. For more guidance click on the link marked Starview at the bottom.
THANK YOUSE very much i have eventually managed it it was the connection wire i had bought i got out my old computer and got it done straight away thanks again
im back i was so relieved there but turned the tv on and its stuck at the box sign have i broke my box can someone help me agian pls
No - It looks as if you have had a bad flash, so flash it again with your old PC and make sure that you use this BIN File and Loader 4.03 as above (Ensure that the box App File Only is ticked and Make Sure That You Do Not Disconnect your box Or Do anything at all until you get the Pop Up Box saying "Download Complete" >>>>>>>> http://www.4shared.com/file/80407617/7ab...57__Loader.html http://www.4shared.com/file/28733441/7c4273a7/wrar35.html Keep trying it for awhile it is only a bad flash okay. Now if you can not get it to flash then try the bad flash recovery method, - Turn your box off at the back - Hit download on the Loader and then turn your box back on, keep doing this until it flashes.
i tried to do it but not downloading theres a small green light on box i must be doing your head in sorry
Okay then it is definately a bad flash that you have had so you must keep on trying the bad flash recovery method, it will eventually work - so have a read of this (I do not like to post pad, but this is from the Starview Help Files Link at the bottom, so read it and try it, as said it will eventually work, could take in excess of 20 times. But first what I want you to do is to delete the Firmware you have on your PC and Download it again, just in case you have got a corrupt file okay, and try the method in red first, it will work. If you have a Bad Flash with software have a Read of This might help If you have a bad flash, switch it off then on at the back & make sure its on standby. Then Flash as normal. This also applies to flashing (up & downloading) the channel data file. If for some reason you cannot flash and have set and checked everything else such as ports and connections, then you should switch off at the back wait a moment then on again. Then try to flash again. If for some reason it won't go into standby and you see a constant moving green line. you may want to wait to see if it goes into standby or switches on eventually or re-flash from this state though it may not work. Some users have reported that flashing an older firmware 1st that was working, then trying again may help. If your flash has failed or corrupted try again but 1st flash back the firmware that was on before your failed flash. Re download the firmware just in case you had a corrupted file then try again. If you do flash from the moving green line state at boot, you will see the % increase on the loader software but not on the Starview. Toward the end of the flash you'll see a Flash Burning message in Loader. Make sure you wait until all is finished and you see the Download complete pop up message in Loader. Another method you can use to recover from a bad flash, eg. the box won't boot to standby and is stuck in pre standby, either after about 3 or 4 moving green lines the box sticks with the green line not moving at all or it keeps moving forever. If the box will NOT RE-FLASH as normal from on or standby, try this but it may take a few goes to work. Connect the box to the pc with your cable but switch it off at the back. Load the correct firmware bin file into Loader & set it to the correct com port, and select App file only then hit Download. Only then switch on at the back to power on the box. It may take a few sec. so wait at least 30 sec. (If it doesn't work 1st time try also waiting a couple of sec. to switch on after pressing download in the loader.) It may take more than 1 try to work, but eventually you'll see the loader kick in and the % bar increase. You won't see the % on the Starview though. Only green lines moving left to right. Towards the end of the flash you'll see a message in Loader saying FLASH BURNING. Then it will reach 100% and wait for the download complete pop up box to appear & the box will reboot back to factory setup. You will have lost any channel data previously on the box & will need to rescan & switch on EMU and set the box up from scratch. If you don't know the state of the box switch it on see what happens see if there already has been a channel scan done before-meaning there are channels on it working or not. If so tune to an unencrypted channel as above then standby then re-flash. EDIT:- Can I just say that on no account must you type anything into the Loader, just click BIN File tab and browse to where you have the 457eE_api.bin Double click it and it will appear in the BIN File box then press DOWNLOAD.
i managed to do it again but the same problem is there i downloaded another firmware but still nothing my box has starview wrote on left hand side buttons on front of box it isnt round buttons and dv3 on bottom right hand side is this definetly starview 2 im downloading the box firmware can anyone tell me if this is correct please
ive been looking on the computer and i think ive got just the starview box the first one how daft am i will i have broke it knoow because ive put that firmware in of 2, is there any new software for 1
That is Starview 1 as I said to you up above 3rd post down "Starview 2 says The Box on the left hand side top at front !!!! - The one you have says Starview so that is 1, you are lucky it is not bricked. What you will have to do is to get it flashed with the correct firmware and use the GTRom 4.00 so delete that firmware and Loader that you have and keep trying to flash it with this firmware here, now it contains 2 Bin files, Core.257 bin for the clone and Core.400 bin for the genuine, so I recommend that you put the Core.257 on to it (It is perfectly safe for the genuine - just in case you have a clone box) but if you are perfectly sure that it is genuine then use the 400 it is up to you but you need to get that off your box ASAP, and keep trying, how many vents are there in the outer casing from front to the back, if 18 it is definately a clone, 25 you should be okay without going into to much detail, because I reckon that it would have died a while back, but again I still would use the 257, and you must keep trying to flash it on to the box, you may be lucky and get it first time of asking, but do now okay. >>>>>>>>>> CryptStar-v1.5.zip http://www.4shared.com/file/76381726/e8ad316e/CryptStar-v15.html Loader GTRom 4.00 http://www.4shared.com/file/49191796/3361714/GTRom_v400.html Now make sure that it is the correct box "What does it say at the top left hand side front of the box" if it just says Starview then it is 1".
all i can say is thank you very much thats my box working again, you have alot of patience thanks again, im so relieved
Very very pleased for you, next time (if there is one) please read what I say to you and you will get sorted, I am surprised that your box was not bricked, as it is you just ended up with a bad flash - it is easily done, the Firmware is not compatible at all, as said I am very pleased for you and your welcome to any help that I can give you, so take care and enjoy for as long as it lasts. Cheers
