Bought seemingly first generation starview boxes from Dreamsate*lite on ebay. Assured they were real but found out now that they're fake. However, the boxes seem to run fine on 4.00 firmware. The inside of the box compared to another clone Newly bought box Newly bought box Proven clone Proven clone As you can see there are a few differences; I've had the boxes for a couple of months now and they haven't died. They've been running on v4 just fine but if I try to reflash with 2.57 fixed for clones, or any other firmware for that matter, it returns a flash failed error. Do you think I should keep it on v4 as I don't know what else I can do? Thanks.
I posted about them a while back about selling clones, they also dont offer Paypal protection on the purchases either if I remember rightly
Your links are broken so I cant view your pics. My advice is dont fix something that isnt broken as you said you have version 4 running on them for months. This would have killed them a long time ago. So I would not be too sure that they are clones. I know the seller distributes clones maybe you were lucky and got a good batch.
Hi Sc0user,thanks for reply.Sorry about the links. Will try to fix them. Looking inside both clones they are the same chip,heat sync etc. but down on left side on new clone looks like a chip (has legs sticking up) The older clone just has the solder. Is this maybe why I can't flash box and it's able to run on 4.00. Would like to know what you reckon. Thanks
I have also bought 7 boxes from Dreamsatelite.They are definately clones,but working now for months without any problem.
