OK, looks like it's game over for me as N3 has arrived.

Now to my questions, if i were to have S*y installed and take their lowest package would this Starview combo box pick up anything more? or is there anything that can be done on the V**gin side of the box like card sharing which i know is possible on the satelite side of things.

The Starview Combo has gone off completely, should i not be able to view all the freeview channels?, i have loaded the latest Carling software onto the box last month hoping it would at least grab the basic channels, but to no avail.

I have read the forum before posting this, but there are so many different views!

Any expert help on my next best move would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

I actually loaded the CARLING-1.00 for UK software into the box about 2 weeks ago but it's still gone dead on the N3 switch over last night, i thought i would still get the free to air channels with this box?

Do i have to reset the box and reload the software again? also reading through the link you gave me, it doesn't really say how or what to connect the box to on my broadband?

I'm sure there is something really simple i'm not getting :-/

Thanks for the help so far :)

if it is the starview combo box you have then it will work on nag.3
follow the guide to exact again incase something changed eg:your net application may have been reset, or your ip address may have been knocked off the box
also this is the latest firmware

    Hi Guys,

Right i now have all HD channels back using the LAN cable (you are all stars) but alot of the other channels i used to get are no longer there such as D*sney etc....

Don't want to spoil what ive got so far, but would another scan / install now get some more channels back?

Yes mate i have the Carling software on the box from when it was first available, but not sure if it's the latest version or not?, i'm only aware of one version?

I have re-scanned but still lost probably somewhere in the region of 60 channels that i used to get.

Is there another version of the carling software?

Carling 1.0 from your signature is the version i have now on the box.

Noticed alot of freezing since connecting the box to the server on alot of channels, freezing every 2 minutes for about 2 seconds and really annoying.

I have read this and other forums like mad, and some poeple mention the carling 2.0 firmware, does this exist?

If it's the freezing or nothing at all, it looks like it's game over for me because it's unwatchable.

make sure you check all your cables and no splitters when you are tuning in the channels

Ok, i have installed the latest firmware off your signature and it has improved the freezing slightly, although i am still getting the freezing around every 10 minutes for around 2 seconds on some channels, especially the HD ones.

When it states 'No Splitters' when scanning for channels, is that off the main N*L incoming box outside, or is that no splitters off the back of this HD Combo box?

I have split the main N*L line as it comes off their box outside and run that into another room, but nothing else.

Will it make any difference scanning whilst uncoupling the second N*L line?

it means both no splitters on either, and yes that could affect the signal & quality to either room
also if you have to split try it with a booster box!

    Hi m8,

Ok. The booster box is up and running and has improved the freezing by 10%, so thanks. Tried unplugging all splitters and re-scanned but it made absolutely no difference, ive even tried leaving off the splitters full stop and the channels still freeze on the box whilst boosted so it has to be a problem with the server connection on the web.

On the plus side, BBC HD & ITV HD now don't freeze that much so i'm all set up for the World Cup in HD :)

Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated!
