    Hi all,
I am a newbie to the forum and wanted some advice sick and tired of paying excessive sky bills
And a colige told me to get a star view box he explained you can purchase it and get a usb external drive and it will record into it
He explained I needed to down load the firm ware install it
Then he explain I would receive all my sky channels through the star view box but I would still keep my existing sky card can anyone shed some light on what to do as I wanted to know more about this product before I purchased it

All advice appreciated glad found the forum
    Thanks in advance

The set up you currently have is a satellite system.
All boxes work on basically the same principles, but have different tuners installed.
A starview has a "Cable" tuner, and a sky box has a "Satellite" tuner.

If you want to use a starview box, you'll need to ditch sky, and get the basic package from your local cable company.

Although, depending on your geographic location, might not be worth doing as most cable companys are craking down hard to combat these boxes.

Look for threads about Nagra 3 for more info.
