Ok heres the situation. I have a Pioneer DVR-106D and when trying to burn an IMAGE with Alcohol 120 using DAO, it keeps failing at random intervals. I figured the drive was most likely on its way out so I purcahsed a Pioneer DVR-110D with a USB Enclosure, Exactly the same problems. I tried varying the burning speed but with no luck. I also tried both + and - media with no luck either. So what I did was I used my Laptop which also has a Pioneer, a DVR-K15, burnt first time no hassles. So I tried it again, Flawless no hassles. So I thought maybe I had a set of bad discs. So I popped a disc into USB Drive (Plugged into my main machine) and burnt using Simulation, and it failed. So then I plugged the drive into the laptop and again tried with Simulation and it worked perfectly. So It wasnt the drives nor the media. Ive also tried moving the image to another location and same problem. Below is the log file. ********* Time stamp of this log file: 4/16/2006 1:47:44 AM ********* 01:47:44 Processor info: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+ (1837MHz) 01:47:44 Memory Available to Windows: 1,048,052 KB 01:47:44 Memory Buffer size: 128 MB 01:47:45 Image file loading: E:\IMAGE.mds 01:47:45 DVD Source Info: Session: 1, Track: 1, Length: 4.15 GB / 483:21:16 01:47:45 Starting RMPS writing Engine 01:47:47 (G PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D(USB:0): Recording Method/Speed 01:47:47 Simulated recording - DVD DAO - 4.0X (5540 KB/Sec) (G PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D(USB:0) - Media format: DVD-R 01:58:22 (G PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D(USB:0) - [Write ERROR] LBA: 1659888, Length: 16 S:KEY - 00/00/00 - "No Additional Sense Information" 01:58:22 (G PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D(USB:0): Simulated recording failed! 01:58:22 Image file loading aborted! 01:58:25 Something is wrong with the recording procedure! It must be something with my actual computer as the drive Burns fine when plugged into the laptop. Btw regardless wether i choose Simulation or Write it fails on my main computer, and works all the time on the laptop.
Check to make sure that DMA is on for all of your drives and also, does your desktop have USB 2 or 1...could be a problem with slow data transfer.
