i had previously installed nero7 on my vista to use with dvd shrink. All was well. When my notebook was running slow i had to get it upgraded. I have now purchased a new nero7 and trying to install it come up with this error message (which make no sense to me whatsoever!):

"The installed version of is not compatible with this version of nero"

It has something else on the end of that but cant remember! I dont understand what installed verision of what it is talking about because it is written EXACTLY how i've written it. CAN ANYONE HELP???

Only versions of Nero later than 7.5.9.0 are compatable with Vista....if you still have your old serial number from Nero7 then you can use that to reinstall to your comp.

thanks for ur help, although the verion of nero 7 I have is DEFINITELY compatible with vista as I previously used the same one and it it clearly states it is compatible. I'm so confused. I removed all previous applications of nero so I could start fresh but it still gives me the same message. If I knew "what version of...what"nero wasn't compatible with i'd have no probs fixing it. I have never seen a message like this...

when you reinstalled Nero did you use the cleaning tools first? This procedure cleans out your computer of any trace of old versions of Nero and then reinstall Nero to the version that you want.

Gwendolin knows best! save your serial #, use Nero Cleaning tools (follow all directions on how to use):
    Nero7 Clean tool http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html
do a registry clean up using this free cleaner: CCleaner:
    http://www.ccleaner.com/download
then do a defrag and reboot!
    now reinstall Nero 7.10.1.0: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?2893

doing a clean install might fix your problem.
