I've been having a strange problem with Windows XP lately. If I leave my computer for ten minutes, it'll go onto standby. This is obviously an annoying problem when it comes to watching DVD's or doing a virus scan, since it'll go onto standby if I don't move the mouse once every ten minutes.

So I've set all of the standby options in the Power Options menu to "Never", and it still goes onto standby.

How can I turn off the standby permanently if it won't turn off in the Power Options menu. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I heard you say you set all options to "Never". Did you check the pull down box and set it to "always on"? Just a thought, otherwise no idea.

Sorry, it didn't solve my problem. Can anyone else help as to what I can do to solve this problem.

I wonder if its overheating - check no vents are blocked and your cooling fans working ok ...
