This is my first hack, so please forgive me if it seems pointless. Streambox Ripper 2.009 is a nice little package, a no-nonsense CD ripper and probably the best way to convert RA streams to MP3s for use on your iPod. However, the CDDB lookup facility no longer works. To remedy this, do the following: 1) Install Streambox Ripper 2.009 as usual, you know where to find it 2) In the program directory, make a copy of Ripper.exe as RipperCDDBMod.exe or whatever 3) Get hold of HDD Hex Editor (or whatever you prefer to use) and open RipperCDDBMod.exe in it. 4) Search for string 'cddb.cddb.com', which you should find at offset 0x09D5AB. 5) Replace 'cddb.cddb.com' with one of the following, depending on where you're at: at.freedb.org au.freedb.org ca.freedb.org de.freedb.org es.freedb.org fi.freedb.org lu.freedb.org ru.freedb.org uk.freedb.org us.freedb.org 6) Save file in hex editor. 7) If you have tried accessing CDDB in Ripper before, there'll be a file called 'cache.dat' in the program directory. Delete it. 8) Run RipperCDDBMod.exe and hit 'CD' with an audio CD in the appropriate drive. I'm sure someone will get a hacked binary out there PDQ, but I don't have any space to make one available just now. Will try to get a hacked version available on my P2P server if there's demand though. Cheers, Matt...
download the streambox ripper at http://www.streamboxripper.tk/ and convert your real audio (*.ra) to mp3 so you can burn it to cd.
