I Have downloaded my home made vhs tapes of family, hunting, and fishing to my hard drive. i want to make copies for friends and family, is there any advantage to make vob files with studio 9 or just put them on dvd's the way they are as mpg files.

you may need to re encode them from what ever they were to an mpeg2 format before you attempt to burn them to dvd

They are mpeg2. I have a compro videomate TV gold plus card, and it records my vhs tapes to my hard drive at, mpeg2 729x480 7000 kbps.
What i want to know is there any advantage of running them through pinnacle studio 9 plus and making them into vob movies. Other than being able to make menu's and chapters? To run them through studio takes about another hour to hour and a half for a 1 hour video.
If i leave them as mpeg2 and burn them with nero will they work in most set top players?

simply yes.Pinancle may enhance them a little if your quality suffers but there are other sofware authoring packages that wont take that long to make menus etc like tmpgenc dvd author
