I just recieved my motarola phone tools cd and cable. I have a v600 and installed all the phone tools software and updated it. For some reason the program is not detecting my phone... Another odd thing is that when i plug in the usb with the phone connected to it into the computer, at the bottom right hand corner of my computer it says "USB Device not recognized... once of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it." What does that mean? do u think that its a defective cable or maybe SP2? I updated the software completely but i think its the drivers... can anyone send me the v600 drivers? I am so lost.. plz help. If u do i have like $2 left of my paypal account that you can have if you help me get my phone tools to work... Thanks again...

Go to the control panel, system, click the harware tab, then open up the device manager. Now make sure you have your phone plugged into your computer. Next, under the modems tab, you should see something like "Motorola USB Modem". If you dont see it,go under the actions at the top of the device manager folder, and scan for new hardware changes. If you do see the phone, right click it, and choose properties. Make sure it says the device is working properly. If it doesn't, or even if it does, but the phone still wont work, right click the motorola usb modem again, and click update driver. Allow it to connect to Windows update. Make sure you are connected to the internet. Next choose to have windows search for the driver automatically. If it says the driver is not signed by microsoft, install it anyways because it is distributed by motorola, and is completely safe. Hope this works for you!

a problem i noticed is that when i plug in the phone and coord it gives me that message i told u above. It doesnt recognize as a phone but under a usb unknown device. Do u think it could be SP2? Why wouldnt it work on SP2 tho? its the newest software err... another thing when i try to install it manually it only lets me install the driver to com 1... does that mean anything?

I doubt that SP2 is messing it up, unless its the annoying firewall, but you didn't mention anything about it earlier. The com port shouldnt matter either. It usally chooses the com port for you automatically anyways. Have you actualy tried installing any drivers?
