Hi, I am new to this. Please kindly assist. I downloaded the movie and subtitles. In the beginning, the subtitles sync. But then they go out-of-sync mid way thru the movie. I already downloaded VobSub and it comes with SubResync. However I can't figure out how to use SubResync to sync the subtitles with the movie. I tried looking for a Guide on using SubResync but cannot find one. Kindly assist. Thanks.
I wasn't clear if you were using an AVI and a .srt file, because this only works for AVI with a separate .srt subtitle file. Run SubTitle Workshop and load the .srt file (the AVI loads automatically). Run the video and note the last line number where subs and video are in sync. Click 'Tools' > 'Split Subtitle', choose the 'Simple' tab and check 'Item Number' and input the line number. Noteo not recalculate time values. Save the files. What you have is one .srt with correct times and one .srt with incorrect times. Load the second file. Highlight the first sub line number. Play with the video and guage where the first sub should come in. Pause/adjust the video at this point and press Ctrl+1 (or the button, third from right, under the video window). Highlight the last sub and repeat for the last video point. Press Ctrl+2 (or the button, second from right, under the video window). Set the video back to the first sub, line up the video and check sync. Either 'Save' or 'Save as' the .srt file. Now the two .srt files have to be joined. Click 'Tools' > 'Join Subtitles', add both files (the first split and the new edited, split file). Make sure that the 'Recalculate time values' box is checked before joining. Reset the video to the beginning, use the slider and check sync. ooops...another question. I have spilt and joined the subs like you have mentioned, however when I playback the movie, the subs go completely missing from the point I had press Ctrl+1 until the end of the movie. Where did I go wrong? Thanks
VOBSub is used for VOB (movie) subs, not AVI .srt subs. When you look at the subs in Subtitle Workshop, are they complete?
If you load the AVI into Subtitle Workshop (Movie > Open), it should automatically load the new .srt file (which of course has the same name as the avi. Does the new .srt file not load?
Hi, The new .srt loads but when it reach the point where I had split the file, the subtitles go missing. I re-do everything again to make sure. I got the same result. Thanks.
Hello, zeeboh, if I may ask, is your movie a two-parter that you joined? If so, does the movie go out of sync precisely at the point where the append was made? Further, does the out-of-sync remain steady throughout the rest of the movie rather than become progressively worse? If any of this is the case, a simpler and more elegant solution to your problem in subtitle workshop is to simply select all the subtitles from the point of sync rupture and go to Edit>Timing>Set Delay and plug-in the value the movie seems to be out of whack. You may have to do it a couple of times to get it right. Once you're satisfied, hit the 'save' button and you're home. The advantage is that you immediately can see the effect on the preview screen. Really the only hassle is pinning down the point of desync. Good luck.

oops another question: Does FPS matter? The subs I have downloaded are 29,970 FPS When I open subtitle workshop, by default, its at 23,976 FPS. Because I am new to this, I have no idea whether it matters.
