I'm reposting this message in this forum as it seems to get more traffic and actually applies to my situation as well. If a moderator wants to delete it from the Subtitles Forum, then please do so.

I read your article "How to convert AVI files (DivX, XviD etc.) to DVD with Avi2DVD" recently and it was not only quite informative, but so simple to follow. I might add that my AVI file converted and burned beautifully using these instructions and software. The only problem is, the subtitles didn't show up on the DVD. The subtitles are in fact in .srt format, they showed up in AVI2DVD, and they show up when playing the AVI on my computer.

I will copy the log file here, as I'm not sure of any of the technical stuff it might say other than "....successfully!" I have "X'd" out the title of the movie.

I did happen to notice it says "One Subtitle Found". I certainly hope that means one .srt file found and not just one subtitle, or sentence!

Anyway, like I said, the movie and sound converted and burned great, and both look and sound really nice on the DVD+R, however only on my computer. When attempting to play it on my DVD player which is a Sansui VRDVD4000, it says "Please Check Disc".

Ok so to sum it up, I need to figure out two things. One, I need to get the subtitles to show up once converted to DVD and burned. Two, to get the DVD to play on my DVD player.

Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Victoria

I tried to convert again using AVI2DVD only this time I checked "NTSC to Pal" and now that memory serves me, the first time I converted and this time I got an error message from HCbatch 0.15 saying "The instruction at "0x091e8bfc" referenced memory at "0x092133760". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

Ok I fixed it. Best Buy was having a sale on DVD players, so I purchased a Philips that plays DVD+R, -R, +RW, -RW, Mpeg's, Jpg's, and MP3's for $49.99. Also, once it played in the DVD player the subtitles magically appeared. Again, I can't compliment you enough for the article and software to do this. It's so unbelievably easy.
    Thanks so much.
