subtitles onto avi files

    i want to put subtitles onto an avi file and then play in on divx player on my computer. i know how tp do it on windows media player but i want to do it on divx player. i have got the subtitles for the film but dont know how to put it on tthe film so it plays on divx player.

    Well I guess remux to a DivX file with xsubs. Surely DivX player can handle external subs though?

    I had the same problem and think I've got it solved. I used the (freeware) AVISUB V2.1 It merged the SRT subtitle into the AVI in about 5 min - giving me a new DIVX file. Worked great on my DIVX PC player and my home DIVX player.

    FYI. When you load the AVI file in, the program 'freezes'. Just leave it alone for a few minuntes, then you can add the SRT file in.
