Subtitles out of sync in VOB file.

Ok I have a problem and ill try to give as much information as possible without going overboard.

I ripped the movie 'Once upon a time in Mexico' using DVD Decrypter. I ripped it to VOB and deleted all the other files it ripped as all I wanted is the single VOB file to add to my movie library.

For some reason the forced subtitles did not diplay when they are speaking spanish.
I can select in VLC to have the subtitles displayed but then they are displayed for the entire movie. These subtitles have been hard-coded into the VOB file when I ripped it, so there is no separate file for the subtitles.

Anyway, I downloaded the forced subtitles files for the movie from a different website. They are in the form of a .idx file and a .sub file.

When I select the new .idx file in VLC the subtitles work and are only display when they are speaking spanish, however it is about a 10 seconds delay and therefore out of sync with the video. Annoying!

I tried editing the .idx file by using the 'delay' line of code to offset the subtitles but it didnt seem to work.
Hopefully someone can help me out! Any help is greatly appreciated!
