i just got a divX movie with a seperate *.srt file, my Dvd player, plays DivX, so i burnt it, the subtitles work fine, everything is in sync, the only problem is that the subtitles are white, and when a particular scene is bright, the subtitles are unreaable, which as you can imagine detracts from the enjoyment of the movie. My question, is, HOW or IF it is possible to use a program to create a black bar, for the white subtitles to sit on, therefore being readable all the time ?? any help, is good. =)
You would have to re-encode, adding the black bar. You could just as easily hard encode the subs if you are re-encoding though. You might want to check for a firmware update or hacked firmware with a better, more readable subtitle font (white with black outline, etc.).
thanks, but there is no firmware update, for this particualr player, and never will be. so how do i re-encode ? with the subs would this mean that the black bar would be across the screen thru the whole movie, and the text would occasionally pop up, in there ?
Means whatever you want it to me. You could add a black bar which the subs would appear and disapear over. Could have a 50% bar that appears only for the subs. Could letter box and put the subs over it. Could have no black bar, but pick a clear outlined font, etc. Purely upto you.
heh, thats promising, but can you elaborate on the process ? virtualdub ? ive never had any experience with this, and i cant find any decent guides
