hello there. i have been trying to hardcode my subs on an avi using virtual dub. all was going well (i think) then i got an error saying i had ran out of space on my hard drive and when i looked it was about a quarter of the way through the film and it had already took up about 30 gig. does anyone know what i done wrong or is there a guide on doing this somewhere.. thanks

Sounds like you were saving an uncompressed AVI, because you had not chosen a compressed format (DivX, Xvid etc).

    Uncompressed video is BIG.

Note 41 GB final file size!

Choose a compressing codec EG DivX

    Note much smaller file size!

Early versions of VirtualDub had "coach messages" for this and other scenarios, but they were dropped from later versions I think. (I don't see them in 1.16.17)
