Subtitles with a Panasonic s295

I have a Panasonic DVD-S295 player which is divx/MPEG4 compatible.

What format does this DVD-player support for xvid-subtitles? I have tried both .sub and .srt, but neither of those seem to work. I also can't find anything about it in the manuel or the panasonic-website.

I just bought panasonic s295, it doesn't support subtitles but the latest firmware supports... so someone knows where i can get english new firmware? Also read this:

I think we have to wait... Here in Italy on http://www.panasonic.it the S295 doesn't exists at all!
