i posted this new thread because i finally want to decide my choice on whether to get vista or xp.i'm using NOD32 but would like to hear what's the AV you guys are using.. assume this thread as a poll, state your choice and no need for reasons(well you can give your reason if you want).your post should include -choices between xp or vista -AV that you are currently using?? -suggestion to myself(i have 1GB ram and 250 HDD)but ram is no big deal,i can afford another 3GB. thnk you,and its better if you can state the reasons on why you choose it..
Vista,a lot easier to navigate, better security, and I like the appearance. AV,I use AVG(its free)& it works pretty good The more ram you can afford the better,go with the extra 3GB
win vista, best memory is 2gb desktop pc over that worthless(it will slow you system)AVG is good, it's also scan and detect malware spyware... WIN VISTA is still a lot of bugs which have not been fix. -if your current system running by duo core 2 or quadcore cpu and then go with win vista. -prepare for unwanted shut down to prevent damage your system (this what window VISTA popup after shutdownd your SYSTEM, it's shutdown without noted, not very good if you using P2P application and leave your PC on overnight to download what you need, when you wake up your Pc was restart and you have download nothing excepting waste your electricity bill), -WINDOW EXPLORER stop working. -some of security reason , Vista stop that software but nothing wrong with it. all of problem above did happen to me but not anymore..after i disable USER ACCOUNT CONTROL in USER ACCOUNTS.. i choose VISTA all because of check out new WINDOW and YES, it's making a lot different with XP, better looking and performance.. i believed they already release WIN VISTA sp1, and about anti virus software , i used NOD,MCCAFFE, Kaspersky, AVG...what i found that AVG does not slow your system down, WORSE IS MCCAFEE it's slow your system down badly.. stay with win XP if you have only 1 pc at home. if more than 1 pc,,at least 1 system run win XP to back up for Vista crash..important files must store in XP system.
what i would do: Burn your copy of vista in a bomb fire Load XP and get on with your life (something vista doesnt let you do) AVG rocks xp (512MB-2GB) or vista (2GB) unless you moved up to a 64 bit system then go 4GB ram good luck
ok thnxs guys... -based on my knowledge, the 32 bit vista can afford only to 4GB ram right?? -to play games, which is better, the 32-bit or 64-bit??but what are the difference between them?? yeah i agree with AVG.i just changed from NOD32 to AVG 7.5 professional.it is really great.its simple.. the bugs mentioned above, here's my results - -i'm in vista and have a core 2 duo cpu. -the unwanted shutdown thing,i've never encounter them even after not turning my pc off. -i got the IE stopped working several times and its annoying because i have to open all my tabs again from the start. -the software got stopped, never got it so far.
Look LuffyPSP: In all honesty you don't seem that experienced with computers/hardware. My opinion? Stick to the simpler and less problematic XP. If you run into shit with Vista, it could be any number of things wrong; Vista is extremely unstable. Save yourself the trouble and stick with XP for the time being. Your not missing out on anything besides an fanciful GUI with pretty colors and effects, Direct X10 and features you don't even need that were ripped from Mac OSX. If you've never used a Mac then you wouldn't really care. Btw, it's helpful to post your specs too. As for AntiVirus. If your happy with AVG stick with it then! It work's great I've used it too, don't be so concerned about what other people are using. You don't have to constantly keep up with technology by upgrading to the latest OS. Finally to answer your questions: -ALL versions of Vista support a minimum of 8GB of RAM. With Ultimate supporting a max of 128Gb. -Unless a game was specifically written to take advantage of 64-bit architecture, then running it on a 64-bit processor will make no difference.
ok thanxs mate,i'm really noob with computer so thats why i'm learning about it now.btw, yeah i know i like to keep up with the technology and concerned with other people's opinion.but you opened my mind lol,i should follow my instinct.anyway i got a problem, can you guarantee me that i wont regret going back to xp?? -would you mind helping me to install the xp??like the steps and then the software needed after the clean install etc.... -whats the minimum ram requirement for xp?? -ok here's my specs : CPU - intel core 2 duo E4500 @2.20 Ghz RAM - 1GB DDRII HDD - 250GB SATA VIDEO - ATI Radeon HD2400Pro 256MB(please explain bout the 256 mb,i dont understand) anyway i got it right about switching from NOD32 to AVG,it is really great, just like the type of AV that i was looking for.honestly i was using norton back then.but i heard other people's opinion to use trend micro and NOD32 and AVG and others.but i dont regret it,i've lerned something new.tried 3 AV already(norton,NOD32 and AVG) but i'm not gonna remove AVG for other AV this time.
