Ok, so im rather new to backing up DVDs but I have been reading the forums and guides for about 5 days straight now and so I know a little bit of what im doing I think. I have decided to use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter for the simple fact that they are free and easy to use, as well I havent started re-authoring anything so I dont really need any of those fancy tools just yet. I have done 3 movies so far, Timeline, Cold Mountain, and Pirates of the Carribean, each has worked just fine except for the fact that they wont play in either of my stand-alone players that I have, they work in my Xbox and on PC but thats it. My problem may be that I am using crappy media - memorex 4x dvd-r 4.7gb - but I have checked the players that I own on the database and it says that they usually play memorex. My first question is: Where can I get Ritek or Verbatims (I checked best buy and they dont have them) and second: Is it possible that its not my media that I am using and I could be doing something else wrong, if so could you please leave a few questions or suggestions and I will address them right away.

    Thanks in advance,

Blah blah blah, errr, Bob Loblaw

memorex has always worked for me. Since it works in your xbox, you are doing it right. Try meritline.com for ritek discs. Also reauthoring in shrink is easy, just drag the main movie from the right pane to the left pane. You wont have any menus, but this usually saves a lot of compression by getting rid of all the extras.
