I just finished modding a Xbox v1.3 (Xecuter 2.3Plus) with a Samsung DVD drive in it. Prior to this Xbox I had a v1.0 Xbox with the Thompson DVD drive that I modded with a Matrix chip. I used Fuji Film DVD+R media that worked well in the v1.0 Xbox. I had "backed" several of my games that I wanted to install on the new hard drive in the new Xbox.

When I put them in the Samsung they aren't recognized. Instead, they show up on the Evox dashboard as "Unknown" which leads me to believe that it sees a disc in the drive, but cant read enough of it to know what to do with it. However, if I use a DVD+RW of the same brand, it works without any problems

I was under the impression that the Samsung drive was the most forgiven drive for the different types of media so I was really surprised that it couldnt read these discs.

Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    Is there a work around?

Anyone have a recommendation on the best media to use with the Samsung drive?

    Thanks

    Greg
