Hi everyone, I converted an avi file using TMPG to NTSC SVCD and I would like to burn it directly to DVD-R. I did some searching but all the guides I found are for SVCDs that have already been burned to numerous cds that you need to merge together. Is there any way to burn directly to DVD-R from SVCDs created in TMPG? Please let me know, thanks.
Thank you so much for replying Mick, I will give it a try tomorrow. Hopefully everything will be fine, thanks again!
Hi everyone, Well I tried the above guide and all the steps worked fine until I had to actually burn the compiled project to dvdr. Right after I combined the project, NTSC and with 48khz sound I tried to burn it using DVD-LAB's option but it gave an error. It said the it could not find the video file or it was unsupported. It is strange because I chceked the VIDEO_TS folder and the files are in there. Another strange thing is the finished file was 1.26gb but the original file SVCD file tmpg gave me was 2.4gb Any thoughts?
Test the compilation in a good player such as WinDVD or PowerDVD. If it works, burn it with Nero, or whatever. Don't use DVDLab's burner.
Hi again, I tried opening the file in WINDVD and it gave me an error and closed the program down. I couldn't see any video but the sound was playing. I double checked the VIDEO_TS folder and there are 9 of the following files: VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_9.VOB The first two files are 976mb and the last file is 126mb, the rest are at 0 kb. Is that normal or should they all be occupied? I tried the guide twice to make sure I didn't select only certain parts of the movie that would result in fewer VOB files filled but still the same thing.
If the files have VBR audio it won't work. If there are different aspects/framerates in the same VTS it won't work. Post a screenshot of your assets window, maybe that will give us a hint.
Hi, Sorry it took so long to post the screenshots, was at work. I used the above guide, this SS is from MPG VCR(changing the audio to 48.0) This step is seperating the audio from video in DVD-LAB from the guide This step is doing the connections and moving the movie from the assets window into the Movie1 Window Now the compile settings I used, the guide has extra options to select but that was using PAL I think and I'm using NTSC.
I forsee a problem already. No VTS. Make it look this way: Try this guide instead: http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?link=602
Hi Jim, I will try with the VTS part, it was there by default but the guide suggested it be deleted. I will try the other guide also, thanks for the help.
If the guide told you to delete the VTS, then the guide is flawed. A DVD MUST HAVE one VTS. You could bypass the extra link, and put the movie directly into the VTS ROOT.
Hi, I used your guide and I got the dvd to burn without problem in nero. When I play it on the computer the video is garbled, when I play it on xbox its a bit better, when I play it on the home dvd player its almost perfect but no sound at all. I think I just have to mess about with the actual encoding in TMPG but your guide worked great! Thanks for all the help.
Try doing audio separately, not in tmpgenc. There's plenty of threads on how to do that in virtualdub and ffmpeggui. Garbled probably means the player you're using to play it doesn't have the correct mpeg-2 codec. DO NOT use windows media player.
Hi I used the guid for putting svcd on dvd i created the mpg from 3 parts 2.5GB size . demuxed it in DVD-LAB and when i tried to create the DVD i get the VideoTS & AudioTS folders but the VideoTS have only the MENU VTS file size 1.1MB and all the rest are size 0. in the TEMP folder i have i BIG VOB file size 2.5GB - which i can play in any DVD player on the computer . what am i doing wrong? why is the file not spiltted to smaller size (1024MB)?
