SVCD playable on CD-Rom drive?

    hello,

    this might be a stupid question, but i searched the forum without any results on my question.

    i've got a 4 years old sony vaio laptop with a normal CD-Rom drive.
    is it possible to view an svcd-movie with the CD-Rom drive or do i need a DVD-drive to view SVCDs?

    The CD in SVCD stands for CD as in Compact Disc, so yeah it will work as in read. Viewing requires software.

    That or you can just browse the SVCD and open up the video from there.
