    hey!
Its virus called blaster! It gets you as soon as you're on the net! It messes everything up! If you go to microsoft you can get a patch to fix it! Its a really widespread virus! I've downloaded a firewall (Zone alarm) this works perfect and fixes the problem! But if you go to microsoft.com they have loads of info on what to!
Glad to find out it wasnt just me who had this prob!

a firewall will only stop the traffic, not fix the problem. Dela wrote a thread on how to remove it from your system, takes 5 minutes.

and here is the fix for the msblast worm. but it didn't generate svchost errors, it was RPC errors. but i suppose it could possibly effect your system differently, but svchost errors were not a common issue thru this virus -

a fire wall will solve the problem, without a connection to the net the virus is usless. Obviously its best to get rid with a virus scan. :p

but it will still be in the system. would it not be better to get rid of it than just contain it. msblast is a 5 minute fix. get a firewall AND fix it.

True. But for me, I had to download a firewall first, then get the patch. I only had about 15 seconds before the svchost.exe error appeared and screwed my PC up. I read that it can effect systems in different ways. But alot of other people had the same problem as me. I use zone alarm and it seems to have done the trick. When I first used the patch it didnt find anything. However, only when the virus activated it would detect it.

    Hi there,
This may be for Vivian... who had the svchost.exe problem. We had the same problem, or a similar one, and we found out
it was the Blaster virus (more than likely).
We installed a Blaster patch, which was found at http://www.globalhauri.com/html/.
We used the worm.win32.blaster patch located on the left hand side of the website page. You may have to delete your other anti-virus program first and install one at the Hauri website, but we are not sure.
    Good luck.

    Sue

I had the same problem. I finally was able to reinstall McAfee and it found and deleted the W32/Nachi.worm. McAfee only discovered this worm on 8/18/03. It has only been a day but so far so no svchost.exe errors
