Is it possible to take a softmodded hard drive from one xbox and put it into another xbox? My friend gave me his xbox to softmod but I misplaced my memory card. Recently (as according to my other posts) I upgraded MY hard drive, so I have the original softmodded drive laying around. I would like to put my original softmodded drive into my friends unmodded xbox. If this is possible please let me know. I already know how to disassemble and remove the hard drive. Thanks, EVOCRE8R
only if the softmodded hd is unlocked...but even then i am not sure if it will work...but it should if it is unlocked.
Thanks mdsup, I just thought that I saw a post somewhere about the eeprom is xbox specific so antoher eeprom from another xbox would not work with it. Can anyone else verify this please. it must be unocked if you want to use it elsewhere...i am not familiar with softmods, so i don't know if it will work...but i know for a fact that you will have to unlock it...if you simply just move it to a new xbox without unlocking it, it won't work...just unlock it and try it, if it doesn't work you can always lock it back to the original board it came with.
Ok I'll try unlocking it. Is this a possible solution? Can I take out the original hard drive from my friends system, put it in my system, format it, boot up with the CD I made from the "Install a larger hard drive" tutorial, install the files from my modded backup and then reinstall it to my friends xbox? if you can somehow unlock the hd that is in his xbox, but the only way i know to unlock a xbox hd is if the xbox is modded...you can't just swap hd's in xbox's...stock hd's are locked to the motherboard that they came with...gotta unlock hd's if you want to switch them to other xbox's.
