Am I the only one being bombarded with tacky sex ads to "increase the length of the penis by 4 inches" , "shock girls with extra size" , "make her moan all night" and constant ads for viagra and other impotence tablets ?
What's with the change to tacky sex ads ? has Google kicked Afterdawn off their adsense program ?

Wtf..? Can you get me a screenshot,as I only see the usual AnSense stuff? And for those of you who block ads: in this economy it is bit discouraging, when ad rates are down and you try to employ couple of guys to keep the site fresh and updated...

I'm feeling let down now.. I allowed all the ads.. and all I got was the usual $ony and M$ junk.. I wanted VIAGRA goddammit..!!!

    Does anybody else suspect malware/adware?

I only use Opera these days, and don't bother blocking ads anyway. I admit i just don't knowingly look at ads, but can't say i've seen anything like you describe, am sure i'd notice them if they were there :p

I use IE7 at work and have seen any of the ads mentioned. See if you can get a screenshot.

Varnull is right and i'm an idiot - victim of a malware attack induced by a curious nephew downloading crap on my PC while I was at work even though I had NIS 2009 installed it didn't stop it completely - kept telling me it had removed trojans etc everytime I rebooted.
    - formatted and reinstalled o/s and now everything is OK except one of the three external HDD I have connected whoch appears as a generic HDD in the My PC window ( seagate pro ) - refuses to let me open it although I can access the contents via desktop shortcuts OK.
    - Western Digital had a neat little program to restore the external icon and they are accessible fine now but no joy searching the seagate site for a freeagent pro external icon installer.

A-ha, just as suspected then. A shaming up is due for the nephew then..

That's about the only thing Norton is good for... not removing viruses completely. You can do much better than Norton.

    Ta-dah!

And i agree with Vball. Better programs than Norton are out there. Hell, AVG Free does a better job, and at no cost. (though i find the newer versions a bit bloated)

As of yet, I have no complaints on using Avast. It also is free and AFAIK :) is doing a good job.

I currently use Avast! as well. I swear it updates 3-4 times a day.

I use AVG 8.x on all my kit, new or old. I have this annoying habit of right clicking the systray icon every few hours and triggering manual updates.
    "Step away from the icon".

I was an advocate of avast for a couple of years.. basically because it seemed better than avg.. but about a year ago I noticed avast was causing major slowdown.. checking every click and file opening on anything but the fastest hardware.

avg8 is better in that respect, but I have also been experimenting with clamav (winclam is it?) .. just for a change... that seems to work well also.

Heres the way I look at it.. if norton and kaspersky were so great WHY do you have to buy a new version every year? If they worked as well as the free ones then surely they would just update the database, not the whole program. I think these expensive subscription applications are deliberately left with holes in them to justify their use.

I haven't noticed Avast! causing any problems, but it may crash the system in 5 minutes, who knows.
I definitely agree on the likes of Norton and other paid services, the only one I ever had that I came even close to liking was Trend Micro. And what a system hog Norton is. I recently was working on a friends computer, he hated Norton and wanted Avast!, and it took over 30 minutes for Revo Uninstaller to track down all the crap bits and pieces Norton had on the system and get rid of them.

lololol. Seems the e-thug got e-smacked.

Anyway, I use Avast! too and it does update like an absolute trooper. But I have a range of Windows/nix security tools that I can turn to in times of need (not that I've ever been infected - something to do with not being a retard, I'm told).
