Hi guys, i've been recording videos with a great program called 'ChrisTV' it is able to record and encode the videos while recording and does so with excellent quality However there is still one fault, the size. I by default record with DIVX or XVID with the quality to the max BUT, whenever it finishes recording/encoding a 5 minute video, the size is 500-700MB which is bad as i've seen hour long movies encoded with DivX that have the same quality as mine and are at 100MB So please, is their a better codec that records and encodes in excellent quality? if not, is their a way to tone down on the size using DivX or XVID?
The files you are comparing would have been captured to another format, then encoded with two passes with XviD. Not captured directly. Size = bitrate * length where length = time * framerate. If you want something smaller, then you can either make it shorter or use a lower bitrate.
