The best sound quality?

    Hi guys, just wanna know what is the best quality for my mp3 to put in my IPOD, in term of space (don't want so big files). So the best kbps etc.....thx

    192 or 256 kbps is the standard to retain CD quality, but the most important thing is to be sure to encode using VBR (variable bitrate), not CBR (constant bitrate)

    Always wondered this...presumably CBR offers the same quality but occupies more space ? I have an old MP3 player that doesn't understand VBR.

    Best quality you can get for an MP3 is 320 CBR encoded by Lame and using Exact Audio Copy. But because 320 takes up too much space the VBR option is better as the quality is great and it doesn't take up too much space.
