has anyone ever experienced this, i have only a couple of hundred of times and worked around it... anyway i though it would be interesting to find out your reactions to this and what you thought was going on.... PS: this is what it looks like if you dont know: but this one is off the net and has some extra stuff on it but once you see it you never, ever want to see it again (the worst thing a Windows user can ever see)
i used to get that error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" a lot when i used Windows 2000, it involved (many) more than one rebuild and annoyed me enough to get shot of Windows 2000. great when it worked but was too easy to break thus needing reinstall far too often. i even used to get that darned error a lot on rebuilding after the said problems, just to add insult to injury. the only way around it would be to take out all the PCI cards etc, and install fairly lean, then slowly add the cards piecemeal and eventually it would stay stable for months (until the next failure!)
Last year I had a lot of fun with this blue screen But the trouble was that it was written whith unicode characters & i couldn't understand the meaning of it. Then I tried the other version of windows and read it. Resetting bios helped me. You can set defaults or take out the battery from motherboard and seal in (not the battery but motherboard) for several seconds (a coin can help you: just place it for a few seconds instead of battery) And you know what? That screen disappeared! I couldn't fix it for a whole week and in a minute it vanished! Suppose you can understand my joy.
If it "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" then it's likely a driver problem. I was getting a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" too and it happened to be down to my on board sound which is Realtek AC97, every time i updated it sooner or later i would get the blue screen so i installed an older version and it works it also seems they fixed what was a problem with there driver so if your using Realtek update asap, also try updating every driver you can.
TRY THIS i seen that meny times,on othere computers..give this a try..this is one way of fixing that.. go back to another registry,as win-2000 has one ye can go back to,pressing f8 on second start up window, select (meaning a back up registry}last known good configuration. if its up and running, uninstall the program that caused the problem and remove its folder.. xp can do the same thing as i posted above cheers also read my post on backing up your system I AM GOING TO TELL YE A BETTER WAY TO BACK UP YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM.. click here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/226518
i have fixed the problem before by doing a system restore i am not expereiencing it now i am just trying to figure out a way to permanently fix this because whenever it has happened to me, i had to resort to a system restore.... maybe longhorn will be more stable... (i guess we will find out next year as far as i know )
