"the box" flash problems

hey guys im just tryin to flash my new box here and havin some trouble,
ive been followin a startup guide but as soon as i click on "download" on GTloader after about 15 secs i get a popup saing "flash update fail" any idead i really dont know what im doin wrong.

my setup is:
laptop > USB-232 converter > RS232 serial connection lead > thebox

I would be sure the problem is the cable , you need the NULL MODEM CABLE and not the rs 232

thats what i bought from maplin earlier on!! fingers crossed it'll work tomorrow then!

 

Sorry to say that will not work as it has a straight through config. You need the null modem cable as per Celt's link above as it has a cross over config.

LOL just change it for the right one. Another thing is check your USB adapter against Celt's link above as if it is a standard USB to serial adapter it will not work either. You need a USB to serial port adapter for it to work correctly.

thanks lads got the new cable today and it worked a treat, still no
L I V, E R P, double O L FC TV as of this mornin tho!

 

Supposed to be on in place of Rangers TV tomorrow so rumour has it wouldnt hold my breath though.

 

Alreet there lads.... I was on yesterday with Fergus trying to sort me box out (The Box) I'v got all the right kit, latest UK firmware, null modem cable and GTrom loader but every time i try an flash me box it says Flash Update Fail. I tried pulling out all uneccessary cables from my PC, am not downloading anything, no scans being performed while i try an flash and still getting same message..... what am i doing wrong???

 

Are you sure you have the NULL MODEM CABLE and not thhe rs232 cable , if the cable was supplied with the box it could be the wrong one... Other than that are you using the right COM port that is being used in device manager
