I got some great help in here a few years back to flash my The Box PVR to get the channels back.
Although the flash got the channels back, the new picture appeared to be a 16:9 aspect ratio squashed into a 4:3. People were tall and thin. No amount of 'tinkering' with the settings in the menu's, or on the tv, would correct it. I'm quite au fait with that kind of thing, so i know it wasn't something silly that i'd missed in terms of letterbox etc. It must have come with the flash. I was using this on a small 20" tv so the effect didn't really bother me that much. I was happy to get the channels back and, after all, i do get full cable in the other room, so if i wanted to watch, say, football, i just went into the other room. Since i flashed it all i've had to do was re-scan as necessary, when channels went wandering.
Now that nag3 is here and the encoded channels are gone for good on this box, i do still get some freeview channels. I intend getting a 32" TV for the room where The Box is, so i'd like to see if i can 'back-flash' to the previous settings, to get the picture correct. It would be handy to to able to cap extra programmes when the V+ box is capping other stuff, in the other room. Factory reset doesn't sort it, it clears everything out, but when i re-scan etc the pic is still squashed. I presume the flash must have replaced the original basic settings, with new basic settings, in what must be a kind of bios. I don't know if i have a back-up of the original settings from when i flashed, because the laptop i used then has been clean re-formatted and O/s installed since then. Can anyone offer any advice?

I would be surprised if you find software anywhere for that box now.
