i turn on my computer a couple of days ago and i try to burn a dvd, nothing happens so i go to my computer and there is no DVD drive, i go to device manager nothing either, only my CD ROM drive is there. but it does show up in a registry key, HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG/system/currentcontrolset/enum/ide/CDROMSONY_DVD RW DW-D22A_BFS2.i have a sony vaio model VGC-RB30, pentium 4, 3.00GHz 512 RAM, running windows xp 2002 service pack 2 and the BIOS sees the drive, i have 2 drives dvd and cd(it still opens and closes) i will apresiate any help i really need this working, Thnx
I had that same problem. I went to SmartComputing.com and found a description of that problem and a downloadable file and it "fixed" the registry error. That was after days of trying evrything. BUT- before I'd do that, I'd use XP's restore points and ":go-back" to the day before the problem and that should fix it. I wasn't able to do that becauser I had not addressed the problem in over 30 days and the go-back feature would only go back 30 days.
wat was the link to download the fix, my restore point has never worked it always says unable to restore.
