I guess someone can not take a joke [political]. Since aD is not in the US, I guess there is no free speech. I think this is funny [NOT].. because if they lob one it will be at me [US]. My original thread was… Subject - Some Funny Shit [maybe the word shit was the trouble. Who knows? I was not told the reason. ] Message - We don’t have any uranium -- We have plenty of plutonium [The message is not a quote. I heard it 12 hours ago and my thread disappeared.] "Good Morning America" anchor Diane Sawyer met with North Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Kim Gye Gwan during her visit to North Korea. (ABC News) from http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=2590121 TO Whomever vaporized my first thread: If you wipe this one at least PM the reason.
I don't know who vaporized your thread but I'd bet money it's because no political discussions are allowed at AD.
Noqoilpi there is no rule in the book when a mod has to notify a member in a pm or when ever and when and why a thread is to be closed..
yep says so right here. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/379741 personally i dont care either way, all this does is prevent the flame wars form starting up every other day... you know, like they did when this wasnt a rule.
ditto re ddp's reply. i'm getting annoying PM's via a political issue and i'm no longer gonna be soft about it. why some people can't understand that politics has no place here i don't know. Thank **** there is now a Forum Rule about it so we can keep that unwanted stuff out of a tech forum. @ps Noqoilpi - when a thread is closed or hidden there is a reason behind it; 'fraid we don't have to give reasons, though most of the time we do. And given the sheer amount of rule breaking/pointless crap/offtopic etc etc etc that goes on, i'm surprised we even bother to give replies when most threads are closed. This one will be closed soon too, when something's closed or hidden it should be taken as read that it's done for a reason, ie starting a new thread about it is hardly going to last long
I'd say some of the folks here should really start realising this is a tech forum first and foremost, and that anything added on top of simple help topics and guides is a priviledge, not "basic right". In a way, we're the guests here, and if we don't agree with the rules, then that's too bad. You want to discuss politics ? do it on the democrat, liberal and republican forums all over the net. Wanna post pointless, tacky crap ? Do it on a more generalised forum. Then again, just my 2 cents, i could be wrong... *though i doubt it* ;-)
A moderator closed your thread. If you had read the sticky here, you'd know not to start political topics because, as has been proven many times; people disagree, things get messy & people get banned unnecessarily. Your thread was hidden because you swore in the title -- if you had read the [bold]READ THIS FIRST: Forum rules[/bold] sticky, you'd know that swearing is against the rules.
I don't agree with the ban on political threads but I can certainly understand it. It such a pity though that we must forego the opportunity presented. I frequently watch or read the news out of canada, the UK, france etc. because its nice to get the perspective of other cultures. We have that oppotunity here. So too, the American press really sucks and are afraid of the people's response...that they'll kill the messeger; i.e. "ratings". It a pity that otherwise nice people can't behave when someone sees things in a different way. Hoping that such people will learn objectivity (not to mention simple manners) is pie in the sky thinking though so, unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of the sites members who are reasonable and polite people must be bound and gagged because of the two or three who don't know the meaning of civil behavior.
True gerry, it is unfair on those who remain calm. But dRD et all have been fair and let it go in the past, but the flame wars will always crop up no matter who gets banned.
