I was trying to fix some of the more serious problems with fallout NV on my PS3...not like Bethesda is ever going to fix these problems. So, I go to the Nexus forums seeking help with my quest.

I start in the chat room, where I am told that "jailbreaking is illegal" I explain that it is not illegal, in fact it is perfectly legal to use the 3.55 CFW. Only piracy is illegal, and I bought the game. They kick me from their chat room.

So I go to the forum, and ask there. I don't ask for help jailbreaking; I already did that. I just wanted to know if anyone else was working on such projects or if there were any lists of mods tested with the PS3. I got one reply, from some moderator..."Discussion of platform hacking or modding is not permitted on this family of sites." I would have replied that the platform is already hacked, and it is the GAME that I want to modify (they don't object to modifying games on other platforms), but my account is suspended and the thread is closed to prevent anyone with a brain from responding.

What a bunch of hypocrites...here they are playing on PC; the most hackable platform known to man; and they are giving me crap for jailbreaking to apply patches that the game developer is to lazy to do with a point fix?

It's a nice place with nice people, inc. the moderators. Their one problem is they are absolutely PARANOID about piracy. don't even mention it any where on the site. What's your problem anyway? Is there something wrong with FO:NV which you want to fix or do you want a mod to fix all the bugs in the game? For starters you are SOL with the latter as there isn't a mod on the pc that does this yet... With the first problem I will try my best to help.

I never mentioned piracy; the mods brought it up (the lady doth protest too much). I made it very clear that I was not pirating the game, nor was I even asking for instructions on how to backup PS3 games...it was already running, and I simply asked if there was anyone else working on repairing this game. They kept telling me that it was impossible to use mods anyway, while I kept telling them that I had about 25 that were tested working. I paid for the game, the game does not work, and the patches don't fix the game. If this were a car, I would sue...and if I lost, I would repair the car myself...I see no reason why doing the same with a video game should be a problem.

Yes, there are a lot of things wrong with Fallout NV, as anyone who has ever played it can tell you. While the engine repairs of the SKIDROW patches would be nice, my main concern was with fixing the game-breaking bugs, like the glitch that prevents you from completing the Legion quest line if you go on an early killing spree at the dam). It is bad enough to have to loose half an hour of play because the game froze up...but starting over from scratch because you went above and beyond is just unacceptable...and there are even some endings that are impossible to reach without mods; like the "Happy" ending for the followers; someone at bethesda forgot to enable the dialog prompt that would allow you to start that mission...so no matter what, the followers will have a bad ending. Even if you start over, and play with no other goals, it cannot be done without a mod...and Bethesda has released two patches that both ignored both of these problems! Then there are the little annoyances too; like the containers in the lucky 38 that your companions steal from, also ignored by both patches. Heck, the last patch actually removed features from the game rather than doing the easy fixes that others had already posted, and now it would seem they they have simply stopped releasing patches...using the excuse that they didn't write the engine, so they don't know how to fix it...while 13-year-olds are writing fixes without even having the source code. It is a good thing that this engine cannot possible support an MMO; because that guarantees that Fallout Online will have a new engine.

I always wondered how to start Boone's 'I Forgot To Remember To Forget'. Now I realize I can't. F**k.
