I made an image of a music CD, mounted it to a virtual drive with Nero and then ripped it using EAC. The ripping time was much faster than if I was ripping from the actual disc. Can anyone confirm this. Everything seems to be OK. There were no errors or suspicious positions reported. Has anyone else done this before.

Yes as in you know about it or yes as in this method is no different from ripping from the actual cd?

It was a resounding yes. Yes to both. I and others have done it before and yes it is no different (from your Operating Systems point of view) than ripping a disc in an optical drive. I have done one or both via Daemon Tools (free) and Alcohol 120% (not free). Its how I do all of my Audio codec listening testing. Its faster than having to spin up the CD-ROM everytime.

Oh, and it was faster because your harddrive spins/reads faster than your optical drive! So in that respect it is a little differnt.

    Its called Emulation,
