    Ok, not too complicated, but I am new to this and somewhat confused:

    Is a modchip required to play backups that are burned onto DVD+R

    I am not sure if it is required to play them, or only to acces them so that you can ftp them to your computer and then burn them.

    Yes.Modchips are required to play burned back ups.You have options of Installing it on your hard drive or if you don't have enough space, you can use your burned copy.That's the only way to burn them.FTP from your Xbox to your computer then burn.

    I got flamed for answering the same type of question cause I didn't mention one little thing, so to help you out Datalife, I'll help you answer..

    No, you do not need a modchip to play backups. You can SOFTMOD your xbox which will play backups w/o a mod-chip. And of course, chips work as well.

    Your choice.. one requires you to open your case (voids warranty), the other uses a software exploit with no case opening.

    Just search these forums or xbox-scene on softmodding.

    ok, thank you, i think i will mod it with a chip anyways, because i am interested on all of the cool features that you can do with a chip. Thanks very much.
