I have nero 6 and a cd -rw drive & a DVD - rw drive. I have an avi file (approx 89 minutes long) which I have tried to copy to DVD but it just copies it to the dvd as an avi file. I have also tried clicking on super video cd and burning it to that but it won't fit on the disc. HELP !! I just want to be able to play it on my DVD player
What program are you using to convert the AVI to dvd format? Here are a couple to use. Nero Vision EXpress. DVD Santa. Also look at this guide. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm Jerry
Jerry, you're gonna think I'm pretty thick ! I just click on the the Nero burning rom icon and a window headed nero burning rom opens - I choose either cd or dvd and hope for the best. How do I find out if I have image recorder
Go to Start > Run > and type in: nerovision.exe Wait a few seconds and it should come up. If it does not, you don't have it. It's a free download from www.nero.com if you have a registered copy of Nero (any sort). Here's a paste of one of my posts in another thread: If you're going to get into the "one click" type of programs, don't bother with DVDSanta. Try VSO Divx to DVD (it also does other formats) and it's free. There are more, such as TheFilmMachine, D.I.K.O., SVCD2DVD, DVDHive (all free). WinAVI video converter will do it too (not free), and guide for it on this page: http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php...=0&listallusers=&search=Search+or+List+Guides
Thanks re- boot, please dumb down for me. I've found Nero V express and imported the avi file I want to burn but it is tto big for an Svcd ( approx 89 minutes) How can I burn this to a dvd
If it won't let you make a DVD, then you haven't got the Nero dvd mpeg plugin (yet another reason to use something else). Get VSO Divx to DVD. Load your AVI and convert. Burn. If it's too large, get DVDShrink, Load file, find your VIDEO_TS folder that is on the hard drive. Shrink to fit one dvdr and burn. Alternatively, you could download the whole Nero Ultra package to make sure you get the dvd mpeg encoder plugin. Edit: I'm going to look for a guide for NVE...post back in a sec. Edit: There seem to be no guides for a DVD in NVE Lots for VCD, which sort of applies. Look in the guides section at www.videohelp.com for Nerovision Express.
