This might seem weird but I was just sitting at the pc and started to wonder what it is that actually fascinates people about computers? Is it because our actions are directly linked to an immediate reaction, Is it because pc's are so versatile and we can practically control the world from our arm chair, What is it?
Truthfully, I think what fascinates people is the fact that there is always something to know. People have the basic instinct of curiosity and since they do, and since technology changes roughly like every couple of months, people want to stay ahead of the game. When you solve a problem, figure out something difficult, create a new program....people love to learn, it is what drives them. A new program comes out and you want to know the ins and outs of it, you'll spend hours and days trying to figure it out...or it will just come naturally. Plus, its cool to be able to manipulate a device to your own liking, building a modified computer that goes beyond basic components, and so forth. I can't speak for everyone, but that is how I see it.
I like the way I can feed my ADD. I must do 50 google searches a day. Everything from Thermodynamics to shark fishing. Plus I like challenging myself. I'm with Venom, it's not the destination, it's the journey.
The possiblity of an endless supply of knowledge, information and pron are all very real reasons that we are so "intrigued" by computers....But to me its more of a wooden leg and a parrot kind of thing...arrgg maity...
