Time to buy a new laptop. Which one?

    Ah yes, its the time has arrived for me to buy a new laptop. With college starting soon and me doing a course which requires a brand spanking new machine, my old crap-top just isnt cut out for the job. So I have £300 to spend, I want a lightweight 17 inch if possible. If not 17 inches, i want it to have a VERY high resolution screen. Decent battery life would be good, at least 1.7 hours minimum, 2GB+ ram, a 100GB+ Hard disk, and stuff like wifi, DVDRW drive, etc. I saw a nice samsung one cheap, but cant remember where. A samsung one would be brill since they are the best 17 inch ones I have seen so far. A good graphics card is a must, since they can rarely be upgraded, but weight is the main problem here. My 15.4 inch one which if fairly new is heavier than my girlfriend's 17 inch samsung, hers is reeealy light. hers is the latest model though, and ill be happy with a small model, even a 13.3 inch one as long as it is high resolution. I live in the UK, so no american shops please, and I will be using the laptop for my college work (Not university, college) and at my workplace, (I have a job repairing PC's, so a my own laptop is a must)

    Need a reply as soon as possible folks, I need a new one by next week =)

    Well for budget you can have a look in the Dell and lenovo, they are cheap and reliable.

    Depends what you mean by high-res. A 17" 1920x1200 laptop is available, but it will be triple your budget.

    Found one with the following specs - XPS M1730

    17 INCH 1920 LCD

    2X 200GB 7200RPM HDD'S

    4GB DDR2RAM

    ETC...

    400 quid. pity i dont have the money :/
