I searched but couldn't find this on the web or in the forums.

What are the factors that affect the amount of time it takes to finalize a DVD? The amount of data on the disc? The type (+R, -R, etc)? The brand of burner? The brand of disc? More? Is there anything else I can do to reduce the amount of time it takes?

We're having problems where people are making short recordings on DVDs, but then it takes 20 minutes to finalize, so we're trying to improve the situation for our users.

It takes about 30 seconds or so to finalize a dvd with one minute of video on it and maybe 2 to 3 minutes MAX to finalize a dvd with 2 hours on it recorded in 2 hr mode. <Thats on my home dvd recorder.

When backing up a dvd the finalization takes 30 seconds sometimes to maybe a minute at very most.
I've never noticed a difference in time to finalize using different media, +R -R -RW all seem the same to me..

What kind of player are we talking about? I'm assuming you mean a home dvd recorder right?
