I am having a problem converting a .WMV file to MPEG using TMPGEnc Xpress. When I try to add my .WMV as a source, I get the following popup error:

The file C:\Camaro.wmv is not editable. Cannot open it.

According to Windows Media Player the clip is not copy protected. Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks

Well If you can not Get Tmpgenc to load your File as a WMV file then maybe Try converting the WMV to AVI first and then encode it....

If you encode the WMV file to AVI useing the "HuffYUV Lossless Codec" then there will be absolutly no Quality loss going from WMV to AVI.....

I use a Freeware Tool Called "Stoik Video Converter" to convert WMV to AVI and you should be able to Find it and the HuffYUV Codec on Line very easilly....

    Cheers

PS: if you convert to AVI useing the HUFFYUV Codec the AVI file will be Very Big but this will have No effect on how big the Mpeg file will be after encodeing the AVI to Mpeg....

Thanks for responding Minion. Actually I found out that the problem was with my internet connection. I was using a wireless laptop that happened to pick up a fast connection. The connection stated that I successfully downloaded my clip. It was huge well over 400MB. However, when I played it, the last 3 minutes were missing. Apparently the network didn't do any parity checking. When I downloaded off my slower connection, I got the entire clip and was able to load it into TMPGEnc. Thanks.
