I'm trying out TMPGENC DVD Author 4 software for the first time. It does seem to be straight forward from the point of importing the source files (VOBs) to creating the menu and authoring the DVD. However, the generated DVD (still in ISO and played with a computer dvd player), I can't seem to go to the DVD menu. When I click on the DVD root menu, I can see the menu for a second, then it pops right into the beginning of the DVD and start rolling. Where can I look into fixing this? Thanks very much in advance. Luke
Did you run a test simulation before generating the dvd? If not you should to make sure it is working before you generate. When you create a menu there are options which you check according to how you want your menus displayed. I use 'Display Main Menu' and 'Play next track'. You probably set it for something different which is why your menu isn't displaying like it is supposed to. If you saved your project, go back into it and check these menu settings then run a test simulation before outputting it to a dvd. Let me know if this helps.
Yes, I did and it appeared fine in the test simulation. I will check the menu settings again to make sure I have those options checked when I'm home tonight, but I remember I had all the options checked by default. Do you recommend to check only those two options? Thanks.
Under "Menu structure setting", I'm currently selecting "Track menu only", then under "Menu action setting", I have . Disc insertion action: Display the track 1 track menu . Track playback end action: Play the next track I also tried the above menu structure setting as "Automatic" with the same result. Any other input please? Thanks
Also, after it creates your dvd..do not burn it yet. Run it on your computer beforehand. It creates a VIDEO_TS folder that you can play with windvd or powerdvd or whichever you want. The issue could be the burning but we need to be sure. The reason being that if your simulation played normal, then it should look the same way on your dvd. That's the purpose of the simulation. Your settings sound good so lets see if the issue was before or after the burn. One question, when importing the source files, are you importing all your videos into one single track or multiple tracks?
Thanks for getting back to me, gnovak1. I actually output to an ISO file and then mounted that ISO file using Daemon Tool to view the DVD on the computer. Let me try tonight to view the folder to see how it looks like. There are multiple source video files for the DVD project. Thanks.
