I use tmpgenc plus for my dvd conversion. Lately i've been confused on what bitrate to set for what quality of avi videos.

    What bitrate is ideal?

Consider that, on step 1 of the Wizard, TMPGenc says you "about 155' movie fit on a 4.7 DVD".

Let's now suppose you have a movie M minutes long; you could run the wizard up to step 4 untill you see, on the screen "estimated file size: XYZ MB" and play with the bitrate value (auto-setting will automatically become de-selected) until XYZ is very close to M/155 * 4.7 GB.

Keep this in mind : the Widard's "rule" is for an 'average' movie,, and that number must be increased for a fast-moving movie (like an anime) and decrsased for a low-motion movie (like a bohemian comedy).

Of course, the greaeter in detail is your TV sreen the more in detail you'll appreciate a big bitrate movie.
