I have been using tmpgenc programs for some time and I had been using some cheap media and ending up with lots of coasters so I invested in some quality media from supermediastore.com:Taiyo Yuden 8x dvd-r.I expected that my troubles would be over but when I was through authoring a movie and went to burn it with the writing tool I got an error"this media has already been written to.cannot write to this media"or something close to that.Well these disks just arrived in the mail a couple of hours ago so I know there is nothing on them but just to be sure I tried a few.I still got the same message.I know my drive supports dvd-r media and is rated to write on them up to 16x.And I already have burned lots of movies using dvd-r so what is the problem?I was praying something like this wasn't going to happen because I ordered 200 of these disks and if I wont be able to use them i'll be pissed!My drive is an emprex 16x 20161m and the media i.d. is TYG02.my firmware is B02H I just burned like 15 cd's on it so I know its working.Can someone figure this out and post an answer.I would greatly appreciate any help I don't know if I can even return these discs and can't afford a new drive.Please help me THANK YOU, HONYAK45 P.S. I just went and upgraded the firmware and still the same thing.
Well I was tearing my hair out trying to figure this out and didn't feel like waiting the several days it usually takes to have anyone reply to my posts so I said this cant be happening everything is how it should be to be able to burn this fricking movie so I used nero info tool and sure enough there was only .12 gb of space on that new disc so then I grabbed the next one in the stack and ran info on that and there was only like .012mb on that one!What the hell!So I grabbed one out of the center of the stack and lo and behold it was blank so I started up tmpgenc dvd author again and opened the writing tool and presto when I put in the disc and pressed write it worked!!!!I put the disc in my ps2 which is finicky as hell as to what it will play and it played just fine.So now I know that these discs are great because the old garbage ones I had brand name "GQ" would only burn successfully every ten discs or so and some that did burn and would play on my pc wouldn't play on the ps2.Now I'm wondering how the hell those discs got data on them being taiyo yuden which has probably the best reputation and being brand new out of the box???I wonder how many more are bunk,hopefully none.I was thinking maybe they put a couple dummy discs on top just to protect the stack but I counted them and they weren't extras.So I'm going to contact supermediastore.com and inquire about this and I will post their explanation so everyone else who might be planning on buying taiyo yuden discs who reads this will know whats up and if they made good on the defective product and gave me any sort of credit.
