I just started creating some music video compilations to play on a PS2 in my truck. After the burn I tested the disk in all the players I have and they work flawlessly. So I install my new creation in my PS2, loads fine, goes to my chapter selection just fine, I make my selection and I hear the audio but NO video! The screen and the animations just stop. I thought it was my PS2 but the disks do the same thing in all consoles I tested. Did I miss a setting somewhere?? Just can't understand why any 50 dollar DVD player has no problems with this disk and every PS2 does.Any help someone might have would be great. I tried a search on this subject but didn't come up with any results. Thanks!!

Sorry I can't help with the error, only offer my experiences with PS2's as a DVD player vs. other DVD players. But, my guess is the DVD isn't the best player in the world. I've had DVD's I've made that will play correctly in all other test players BUT the PS2. I know the PS2 doesn't like too many edits made to VIDEO_TS.IFO that others didn't mind. I have one DVD-ROM that plays video but no audio on PS2, but fine in all other players. Plus, I had one other Sony DVD player I ended up returning. Out 12 discs it just mysteriously said "CANNOT PLAY" only 2 of them were actually damaged, and the other 10 played fine in my other test units. So, I returned it.

This has lead me to believe that Sony doesn't necessarily make the best DVD players. But, then again, the PS2 is designed to be a multi-platform device: to play CD's, PSX games, PS2 games, and DVD movies. So, the fact that it does any of these anywhere near good in today's technology market of manufacturers who don't know what they're doing is a miracle. :)

I was Under the Impression that the PS2 only Played Retail DVD"s and Not DVD-R/+R/RW"s unless you had a Mod Chip?

PS2 has supported DVD-R (For movies.) from Board 1. I've seen this from experience. It has played my DVD-R's since around May 2002. It does not support DVD+R/RW or DVD-RW, I've also tested this. And, I'm not sure, but somewhere around Board 5, I believe was when rewritable discs were supported. My current latest board 7 (Currently in for repairs.) played all 4 formats: both pluses and minuses. Mods for DVD-R are only necessary for games. Sony would WANT you to play DVD-R on their PS2 since they released the DRU PC burners. :)
