I have an avi file that was captured at 352x480 size.
When I encode to DVD, the default setting Tmpgenc shows for resolution is 720x480. Should I change that to 352x480 to match the source file? Would I lose or gain quality by having Tmpgenc encode it at 720x480?

p.s the reason I capture the avi at 352x480 is because thats the highest I can use without dropping many frames on my system.

One thing you can do with TMPGEnc is select a source range for conversion. Then play it back or even burn on a rewritable disc to see how it looks. After you load the video in the wizard and hit Next, click the checkbox for source range and select a small section for conversion. Then just take the default settings the rest of the way and let it output a file. Play it and see if you like it. Also you can play around with the resolutions and various "full screen keep aspect ratio" stuff on the advanced tab and find out what squashes a video and what doesn't. A little trial and error doesn't hurt until you get used to using the tool. :)
