I am getting this error with TMPGEnc, with certain video conversions. I am pretty certain its because of the lack of a AC3 plugin for TMPGEnc, but I am not sure at all. Any ideas?

Secondly, besides TMPGEnc DVD Author, can anyone else recommend any other DVD Authoring kit? I think TMPGEnc is meant to be the best - its certainly excellent in my experience - but if it can't handle certain conversions, I wouldn't mind trying other software. Surely there is some out there? Any ideas?

    Cheers

Sure, for a real trip, try DVDLab or DVDLab Pro -- although I don't have enough experience yet to attest to its conversion prowness.

I actually went the other way, from DVDLab to TMPGEnc Author -- because I am looking for something basic for my father-in-law. After I get my father-in-law up and running, and I really learn all the basics, I will probably go back to DVDLab, because I like bells and whistles.

Yes DVDLab (Pro) is Probably one of the best there is for makeing DVD"S...It doesn"t have an encoder so your Files must be DVD Compliant Before useing it but it makes very nice DVD"s....

You can find a list of authoring software in the FAQ at the top of this forum. Like many others here I use DVD-Lab Pro, but whether it's the best depends on what kind of interface you're comfortable with and what features you need.

Just used Nero Vision Express and its done a wonderful job - nice looking and very simple, straight forward - just what I am after!

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've just acquired DVDlab too, nice tool - gotta teach myself it though!

Did you try restarting your computer? I had the same - or a similar error message - and restarting helped!
