When I use the wizard in TMPGENC to compress an AVI to MPG in order to get it on a DVD, no matter what my file size, settings, etc, the last screen in the wizard where you can change bitrate of audio and video is all greyed out so I can't change anything, resulting in a crap quality MPEG output file. Any idea why the settings would be greyed out? It happens with all files I try to compress. Thanks for any help.
I know of no reason why it should be greyed out, but for now, see if you are allowed to change the setting on Page 3>other settings>video>rate control mode>settings. Audio is also accessible under other settings.
I found out why they were greyed out and how to fix it. Apparently, TMPGEnc comes with them all greyed out, but if you go to Other Settings in the wizard, you can click on each and every thing that's greyed out and choose "unlock". It'll complain at you "blah blah blah only do this if you know what you're doing" etc. You just hit ok from there and options are unlocked. There's also a template you can load called unlock (comes with the program in the Extras directory) which is supposed to ungrey all the tweakable options in TMPGEnc, but it didn't work for me.
