i'm new to the world of burning dvd's and would like peoples advice as to the best way to do this. I only want to convert avi files which i have downloaded.I belive a lot of them are xvid avi having used AVICODEC to dtermine this. I've noticed with tmpgenc it takes like 12 hrs to do its thing and consider that the movie is only 42mins long!!!! With dvd santa it takes just under an hour!! After tmpgenc is done i then run it through IFOEDIT, why? i don't know i'm following the guides on this site!! After ifoedit has done its thing it makes the output files HUGE!! Like over 4gb!! Now since i want to fit 4 files onto one dvd i got to run the file that ifoedit did through dvd shrink so i can get it all onto 1 disc!! So am i doing this right or wrong??
If DVDSanta works for you and you're satisfied with the results, why not just stick with it? Alternatively, another popular way would be to encode with VSO (free version), then burn with e.g. Nero: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm With VSO, you can add multiple avis (just keep adding before hitting 'convert'). Happy DVD burning!
