When I try to open an AVI file in Tmpgenc it won't work, it says it's corrupted or unsupported...Is there any way to get around this or fix it? I tryed running it through VirtualDub but it won't open in there either, and I tried to run it through AVIFixed and it does nothing at all.
you havent got the right codecs to open your avi. download and install ffdshow http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm
If you have the codecs it might be your enviromental settings in Tmpgenc... you might want to raise your directshow and avi settings....
I had the same problem as you with some avi's, then I found an amazing program called OSS Video Converter (http://www.onestopsoft.com then download a trial of Media Converter Pro). Once installed, open the OSS Video Converter program, add your avi file, select what type of file you want and select convert! If you then want your completed file as a VCD/SVCD/DVD then open TMPGEnc select what type of format you want (VCD/SVCD/DVD) add your file then convert!
i have the same problem with a avi file. Avi codec claims the following: Video : 502 MB, 1190 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 656*320 (2.21:1), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Audio : 189 MB, 448 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 5 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, Supported Supported however, when trying to open with TMPGenc it says its unsupported. Tried the advice of downloading OSSvideo converter and that did notihng at all, apart from claim it was not a video file. I have FFDshow so i don't think it could be that. I'm thinking it may be something to do with compression, is there anyway of finding out if it is compressed or not? If there is can someone tell me what the difference is between compressed and uncompressed video files and what one TMPGenc cannot deal with? This is really starting to p*** me off! Hi, Guys just raise the DirectShow Multimedia Reader priority in Options. Options --> Environmental Settings --> VFAPI plug-in --> Change the DirectShow Multimedia Reader from -1 to 2. Hope that helps ! Regards, DiRect
You will not be able to encode that XviD in Tmpgenc anyways because Tmpgenc doesn"t support the AC3 audio format that is in your AVI file.. If you download and install this: AC3ACM Decompressor http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/AC3ACM.zip Then Tmpgenc and most other VFW Programs will be able to decode the AC3 in the XviD file... To get rid of the "Can not open or Unsupported" error in tmpgenc then go to "options" to Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the Priority of the "Direct show Multi-Media File Reader" to "2" and then the file should Load but if it doesn"t and you do have the XviD Codec installed and Virtual-Dub also can not open the File then it could be that the Avi file is Corrupted which is very common with downloaded files and there isn"t much of a chance of Fixing it becides downloading it again... your problem is a vbr with an xvid encoding you need to decompress the audio in the file ive got a beautiful little program for it to just need to know where you want it sent then tmpgenc will reconize the file i had the same problem and it was emailed to me glad to repay the favor for you pay it forward _X_X_X_X_X_[small]ty for any help[/small]
