If anyone could assist with this problem.... I used Tmpgenc to burn a 3gig mpeg file. Excellent results. 2nd time I tried to do the same , the output file was only 20mb in size, which is only the chapter page and the first 20 seconds of the file.I added only chapters and title to the movie then output the file in preparation to burning. 3rd and 4th time same thing. Does anyone have any idea why it isnt reading and outputting the whole 3 gig file..? Thanks
You used Tmpgenc DVD Author Pro to create the dvd files from the mpeg and burned it to a disk from inside Tmpgenc? It also saves the output to a folder on the hard drive, so I'm not clear why you would process the mpeg again, or am I mis-understanding? Anyway the output should be available for burning with anything like DVD Decrypter or Nero from the saved files.
Thanks Attar, Yes, I have a 3 gig mpeg file which was created by my tv card. I added this file in Tmpgenc when I created a new project. After editing to my satisfaction with chapters, I press the output key, then Begin output. It takes about 15 seconds to do its thing then comes up with the Burn option. When I look at the output file it created it is only 22MB as opposed to the 3 gig output file i got when i did a successful burn. When i burnt the 22MB ( i didnt realise till later) I only got the title and chapter page and first couple of seconds of the movie. Which equals the 22mb. I even checked the VOB file and yep, thats all that was in it.
I'm not sure were talking about the same prog. If you got the results you wanted, then you still have the output files on your hard drive. TMPGenc saved the output before it burned the disk. They are in 'My Documents' probably in a folder called 'DVD'. These files are used by the likes of 'Nero' or 'DVD Decrypter' to burn to disk directly (they are in DVD format ready to burn). If you reopen a project,it basically starts over and it should take about 15 minutes to process the original mpeg file again. The only time you reopen a project is to change the menus or clip out parts of the movie. What's the full name of the of the Tmpgenc app that you are using. We may be talking different versions.
I'm using TMPGEnc DVD AUTHOR 1.6. Yes it does output a file to a folder tmpgencdvd, but the file it outputs is only a fraction of the size of the original file, so if I go to burn it, I only burn this small file. Sorry i think i can see where the confusion is. I burnt a successful disc, then deleted it cos i didnt need it any more, then I chose a NEW file to burn and tried to do the same thing but unlike my first efforts where tmpgenc took about 10 minutes to convert the file and save it to the tmpgencdvd folder, this time with the new movie it took about 10 seconds which resulted in only a 22mb file. I'm also wondering why the result of these burns and with nero are so low in volume when played on a stand alone. You really have to crank up the volume quite high just to hear it.
This 'new' file is not the same as the original that worked for you? When you bring it into TDA can you view it on the 'edit' screen ok? If you start a new project with your original 3gig clip it should proceed as it did with your first successful attempt (I don't suppose that you went to 'edit clip' and accidently 'clipped' most of the video) If that wasn't the case, you could uninstall and reinstall TDA and try again.I assume that you are using the trial version and no help would be provided from TMPG. There is another app. from the same company: http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tsunami/tdap_license.html which is good for thirty days.An audio filter called 'volume correction' is included and can be used with good results.
Thanks Attar, I will try your suggestion with the different version. No, the new file is completely new, a new title.
